Davis was the first ship to meet and render aid to Liberty following the attack.

Massey was the second ship to arrive and assist Liberty.

Papago was the seagoing tug that met and brought Liberty to dry dock in Malta following the attack.
Navy EC-121 Airborne Intercept Platform
A Navy EC-121 aircraft intercepted some of the Israeli radio traffic at the end of the attack.
Air Force EC-130 Airborne Intercept Platform
An Air Force EC-130 aircraft intercepted the Israeli air to ground communications during the attack.
Navy E3B Airborne Intercept Platform
The Navy also had E3B communications and signals intercept platforms operating in the area.
Navy F-4 Fighter
The Sixth Fleet aircraft carriers launched F-4 aircraft to come to the rescue of USS Liberty. Minutes after their launch, the Israelis broke off their attack and reported that they had made "a mistake."

The aircraft carriers also launched A-4 fighter-bombers to aid Liberty.
Navy A-1
The carriers also launched A-1 aircraft to cover USS Liberty. These aircraft, had then not been recalled, would have been able to remain on station for a very long time.
Israeli Torpedo Boat
This photo is of one of the three Israeli torpedo boats that torpedoed the ship, then circled it for another 45 minutes, raking it with cannon and machine-gun fire.
